Welcome to the rest of your life! You’ve tried the diets, the teas, the classes and the detoxes. You’ve listened to the gurus, the influencers, the biohackers, and because of that, you stopped listening to yourself. Four Weeks to the Beach is not a promise. It’s actually far from it. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a mindset. It’s an action plan and above all, it’s freedom from the bullshit!
I got tired of watching folks run in the wrong direction, wasting their time, money and energy on things that didn’t serve them. In fact, I was tired of doing the same. This all began because people better, smarter and more successful than me pointed out the lies I kept telling myself. Lies I told myself for years that I believed about being too busy, too tired, over worked and under appreciated. All it took was a few choice words pointing out the bullshit I convinced myself of and why I couldn’t make progress physically, emotionally and professionally.
Trial and error taught me a lot of lessons that I think folks today don’t get a chance to learn. Overconsumption of information leads to paralysis of action. Fear of failure leads to inactivity and stagnation. If you want more or better, you need to be willing to do more and better. Understanding your current situation, knowing exactly what you want, and then developing an action plan is how you bridge those gaps. You will slip and fall. You’ll get bored. You’ll get tired. You’ll lose motivation and willpower. You’ll even want to quit. With Four Weeks to the Beach, it will become very clear that you don’t need to be perfect, but you will have to show up for yourself because you deserve to keep trying and celebrate this chance.
Fads such as high intensity group fitness, dance club-like cycling classes, and sexy new diets promising extravagant results are easy to want to explore because of our desire for instant gratification. The wellness industry preys on this desire, but has forgotten a very important factor, sustainability.
The idea behind Four Weeks to the Beach is simple yet challenging. It is not just a work out plan or a nutrition plan, it is a process that can transform your body using three foundational principles. Those principles are rest/recovery, nutrition quality/quantity and exercise frequency/intensity. The science behind nutrition and exercise is much less important than the psychology of the individual.
The goal of Four Weeks to the Beach is to educate, inspire, change and sustain. This site will serve as a beacon for easily accessible information on mindset, nutrition, and training. It will contain food for thought with respect to behavior change using best practices, anecdotal evidence and scientific evidence. I do not promise to have all the answers nor do I promise that you will all be successful, but I know this, if you change your behavior, consistently practice sound nutritional habits, exercise regularly and never give up, you will look and feel better than you ever did. Let’s go to work!
